Jason Carr - Keyboard
Born and raised in Detroit, Jason now lives in Philadelphia where he's been a resident DJ and laptop performer throughout the city (Broketronica, Inciting Productions, Rizumu Technologia). His influences include Motown, techno, hip hop, classical, jazz and improvisational performance. For his master's degree at Temple University in music theory and composition, he explored elements of the reactive relationship between audience and performer.
David Fishkin - Sax
David Fishkin was not born so much as he shot out like a cannonball. He started playing saxophone at age 7. Later, he attended Oberlin College. In between semesters, he studied with the great Philadelphia-based saxophone player Odean Pope. Since then, David has worked as a musician and teacher. His current projects include Gun Muffs, EXTREME FISHKIN!!! and the Fishkin Four (available for weddings). He also has played and recorded with Upholstery. David is currently producing an original puppet musical for the Fringe Festival entitled Grampa's Dildo Farm, which stars Rails playwright Candra Kennedy. Venue TBA.
Original 2009 Band members
Corey Mark - Drums
Contrary to popular opinion, Corey Mark stands approximately six-foot one and one-half inch tall. Not six-two. Not six-three. 6' 1.5". Hailing from the legendary North-East of Pennsylvania, he's enjoyed his time as drummer with John Sterling and the Essmen, and as drummer/co-composer in the band Bear is Driving and with Js. Prouty's Upholstery. Corey works as the business manager at the Philadelphia Public School Notebook. He lives in Cobbs Creek. He rides SEPTA (as SEPTA rides his last nerve). He doesn't eat much beef. But he does believe in social and economic justice. And he- standing 6' 1.5" yet still- would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to all his friends, his family, Calvary UMC, his partner Nijmie and God: Much love, y'all!!! ...and thanks to the cast, crew and supporters of Rails; it's been smashing!
Jeremy Prouty - Bass
Hailing from the panhandle of Nebraska, Jeremy has resided in Philadelpiha for the past four years. He has created other-wordly pop music with Voodoo Economics since 2005. With that group now on hiatus, Jeremy is focusing more attention on his group featured in this work, Upholstery. Jeremy’s fourth album (and second with Upholstery) is scheduled to be released next spring. Currently attending the Community College of Philadelphia, he has long-term plans of pursuing a doctoral degree in Evolutionary Biology.
